    For Jones’ Attorney General Campaign

Just under 30 Bay Area labor leaders gathered at Local 38 last month for a fund raising breakfast for California Insurance Commissioner David Jones, who recently announced his campaign for Attorney General of California in 2018.
“David has been a longtime friend of Local 38 and of California labor as a whole,” said Local 38 Business Manager Larry Mazzola, Jr., who introduced Jones to the gathering. “Throughout his career, at every level of government, he has fought for the interests of working men and women and their unions. I am proud that Local 38 has decided to support him for Attorney General of California.”
Jones began his career as a legal aid attorney in 1988, until he became a Special Assistant to US Attorney General Janet Reno in the Clinton administration. In 1999 he began his tenure as an elected official by winning a seat on the Sacramento City Council.
Jones served in the California State Assembly from 2004 through 2010, where he chaired the Assembly Health Committee, the Assembly Judiciary Committee and the Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. He received numerous accolades and awards, including Phillip Burton Award for Courage from the Orange County Labor Federation.
“David has a 100 percent labor voting record in every office he has held,” said Mazzola, Jr. “Local 38 is proud to support him, and we want to urge other unions to join in his campaign.”
